The platform serves as a core system of record for derivative transactions, valuations, risk metrics, and accounting.
The role requires deep hands-on platform expertise, strong full-stack and integration development capabilities, and a solid understanding of OTC derivatives across the complete trade lifecycle. The developer will build reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that support front-, middle-, and back-office trade-servicing functions.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, operations analysts, Business Analysts, Product Owners, technology, security, vendor teams, and cross-functional delivery squads to translate requirements and deliver high-quality, production-ready software solutions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, develop, configure, and unit test platform customizations in accordance with approved functional and technical standards
- Enhance and support derivative trade-servicing capabilities across trading, treasury, and investment management functions
- Implement and maintain platform workflows for trade booking, confirmations, valuations, risk calculations, collateral events, accounting, reporting, and settlement
- Build and maintain custom scripts, modules, interfaces, and supporting applications within and around the derivatives platform
- Develop and support integrations with upstream and downstream platforms, including trade capture, market data, confirmation, settlement, accounting, risk, and reconciliation systems
- Work with enterprise and vendor platforms such as Bloomberg EMSX, FX Connect, MarkitServ, AcadiaSoft, TriOptima, and DTCC, as well as internal trade, risk, and reference-data systems
- Develop and support FpML file generation, validation, transmission, and processing
- Support platform databases and reporting queries using strong SQL and data-analysis practices
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, source-control practices, code recompilation, release management, and deployment automation aligned with a DevSecOps delivery model
- Participate in platform upgrades, including version-impact assessment, code recompilation, version testing, regression testing, and deployment validation
- Participate in sprint planning, story refinement, estimation, and Program Increment (PI) planning ceremonies
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Owners to clarify business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
- Support cloud resilience and disaster-recovery capabilities, including derivatives workloads hosted on cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure AKS) where applicable
- Apply least-privilege access, security-group controls, access reviews, encryption, audit logging, and other enterprise security standards
- Ensure code quality through peer reviews, unit testing, technical documentation, and adherence to approved engineering standards; participate in technology evaluations and proof-of-concept initiatives
- Provide production support, including troubleshooting, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and system optimization
Must Have Skills:
- Platform & Derivatives Domain
- Deep hands-on knowledge of a leading derivatives platform such as ION Findur (OpenLink Endur), Calypso, or Murex, including scripting, configuration, administration, trade booking, valuations, risk modules, and accounting modules
- Experience developing and maintaining platform customizations, scripts, modules, interfaces, and integrations across upstream and downstream trade, market-data, confirmation, settlement, accounting, risk, and reconciliation systems
- Strong derivatives domain knowledge of OTC products such as swaps, options, futures, and forwards
- End-to-end understanding of the derivatives lifecycle — booking, confirmation, valuation, collateral, settlement, accounting, and reconciliation — including lifecycle events such as partial buyouts, corporate actions, and qualified purchases
- Practical understanding of valuation, pricing, and risk management, including market data, Greek sensitivities, and volatility surfaces
- Knowledge of collateral management processes, including cleared swaps, futures margining, and Uncleared Margin Rules (UMR) reconciliation
- Knowledge of Fixed Income products and markets
- Technical & Development
- Full-stack software development expertise, including Java, Spring Boot, and Python
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, SQL Server, and Databricks
- Strong database and SQL skills for data analysis, troubleshooting, reporting, and support of the platform's underlying data stores
- Experience building and supporting enterprise CI/CD pipelines
- Experience integrating AI/ML or Generative AI solutions into enterprise applications, including Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or enterprise copilot development
- Market Systems & Production Support
- Experience with market, trading, and portfolio platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and Aladdin
- Experience supporting production systems, including incident diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Bloomberg EMSX, FX Connect, MarkitServ, AcadiaSoft, TriOptima, DTCC, or similar market and vendor platform integrations
- Knowledge of FpML standards and derivative trade-message processing
- Experience with repository management, code compilation, CI/CD pipeline automation, and DevSecOps practices
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft Azure), Kubernetes/AKS, cloud resilience, disaster recovery, and related controls
- Understanding of security and access management, including least-privilege provisioning, security groups, access reviews, cryptographic standards, and audit logging
- Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, or NAIC accounting standards, including hedge accounting, journal entries, and regulatory reporting
- Awareness of regulatory and operational-resilience expectations (e.g., OSFI B-10, DORA, or equivalent requirements)
Professional Skills:
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently with limited supervision.
- High standards of professionalism, ownership, and quality, with composure during production or delivery-critical situations.
- Analytical problem solver who can translate complex derivative-processing requirements into reliable technical solutions.
- Flexible and open-minded, with a continuous-improvement approach and willingness to propose creative solutions.
