Position Description

We are looking for a talented and experienced Data Engineer to join our team in Latin America. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and modern data platforms to support our customers' analytics and reporting needs. You will work autonomously while collaborating with cross-functional teams on multiple high-impact initiatives.

 

This position requires working during U.S. Central Time (CST) business hours. You will also participate in a shared on-call rotation outside of business hours and respond to high-priority incidents when required.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, build, automate, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines
  • Develop and maintain dbt models, data transformations, and ETL/ELT workflows
  • Design and implement dimensional data models using Kimball methodology, star schema, and modern data warehousing best practices
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows
  • Optimize SQL queries and data warehouse performance to ensure scalability and efficiency
  • Monitor data pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and perform root cause analysis for production incidents
  • Implement automated testing and validation to ensure data quality and reliability
  • Follow data security, governance, and compliance best practices, ensuring adherence to Master Data Management (MDM) standards
  • Follow established controls to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of data across upstream and downstream systems
  • Participate in code reviews and promote coding standards and engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions
  • Communicate technical progress, risks, issues, and solutions effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

 

Workplace:  Remote position based in Latin America but requiring Central Timezone working hours and rotational on-call to high-priority incidents outside regular business hours

 

 

Must Have Skills:

 

  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing modern ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing data transformations using dbt
  • 5+ years of experience building scalable data engineering solutions supporting analytics and reporting
  • Strong experience with relational databases such as Snowflake, SQL Server or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with scripting using PowerShell and/or Python
  • Strong understanding of relational database design, SQL optimization, indexing, and database best practices
  • Experience using Git for version control and Jira (or similar project management tools)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced Agile environment

 

Good to Have Skills:

 

  • Experience with Apache Airflow, including DAG development and monitoring
  • Experience working in SaaS or multi-tenant environments
  • Experience supporting BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
  • Experience with Azure cloud services beyond Azure Data Factory

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Databricks, or Kafka
  • Familiarity with cloud-native data solutions on Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with distributed data processing systems

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Maintains composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, production support environment
